What it costs to sell on Klatchit

This page is the public answer to "what does Klatchit charge sellers?" — written for someone deciding whether to sell here, before they have an account. Once you are selling, Fees and payouts covers the same ground operationally, and your seller dashboard and statement are the authoritative record of what actually applied to your sales.

The short version

  • No listing fees, no monthly plan. Creating an account, opening a store, and listing products are free. Klatchit earns only when you sell.
  • A commission on completed sales. The baseline rate is 10% of the sale.
  • Nothing to pay separately. Commission comes out of each payment as it is charged, so what settles into your own Stripe account is already net of it.

Commission

  • Baseline: 10%. Klatchit can set different rates for particular categories, stores, or price bands; the most specific matching rule applies to each item. Rates can change over time, so your dashboard and statement — not this page — are authoritative for the rate that applied to a given sale.
  • Charged on the post-discount item price. That is what you sold at, minus any promotion or coupon that applied. You are never charged commission on money you discounted away. (Where Klatchit funds a promo code itself, the discount comes out of Klatchit's commission and does not change your net.)
  • Not charged on shipping or sales tax. The buyer's shipping and tax are not part of the commission base.
  • Collected automatically. Commission is taken at the moment the payment is charged, as the Stripe Connect application fee on your own charge. It is never billed to you afterwards and can never accumulate into a balance you owe.

Everything else is optional or pass-through

  • Advertising — cost per click. Showing an ad is free; you are billed per click under second-price rules, capped by the daily budget you set.
  • Fulfillment by Klatchit — per-order fulfillment fees if you choose to use it; storage and handling are charged to your billing method.
  • Stripe's payment-processing fees — charged by Stripe under your own Stripe agreement, per transaction.
  • Chargebacks and disputes — you are the merchant of record, so a disputed charge and any dispute fee come out of your Stripe balance. Klatchit records them and reflects them in your statement, but does not cover them.

Klatchit adds no withdrawal or payout fee.

How you get paid

Buyers' cards are charged directly on your own connected Stripe account, so sale funds settle to you and never sit in a Klatchit-held balance. Stripe pays out to your bank on Stripe's schedule; the timing is between you and Stripe.

What being the merchant of record means

You are the merchant of record for your sales. You set prices, shipping, tax settings, and your return policy; you fulfill orders; and you resolve returns and buyer-protection claims directly with your buyers. Klatchit runs the marketplace, the payments rail, and the tooling around them.

Getting started

Sign up, open a store, and complete Stripe onboarding — Stripe handles identity and business verification. Buyers cannot purchase from you until that is approved and you have set your shipping.
